Leonie Klöpfer is a visual artist. In her work, she deals with the (metaphorical) healing of wounds and injuries and explores how injury and healing are interdependent in the form of large-scale installations, architectural interventions and drawings. By deconstructing (supposedly) real and metaphorical healing processes, she exposes underlying layers of injury, revealing their causes. This raises questions such as what form of injury, including immaterial wounds, must have occurred previously, what repairs have been made that may carry new injuries, and what scars remain visible or tangible. Fundamental to this is the constant idea of surfaces as shells with an inside and an outside: skin, textiles, architecture and other phenomena that function as boundaries and protection, the violation of which often means penetration into another system.

Before completing her art degree at the ABK Stuttgart in the installation class taught by Prof. Birgit Brenner, !Mediengruppe Bitnik, Anike Joyce Sadiq and Flaka Haliti, Leonie Klöpfer initially studied German language and literature at the University of Stuttgart and spent a guest semester in communication design in Prof. Patrick Thomas’s class. In 2020 and 2023, she was awarded the Academy Prize and, following her diploma in Fine Art in 2024, received the State Graduate Scholarship from the State of Baden-Württemberg. Her works have been exhibited in solo and group shows at venues including the Kunstverein Neuhausen, the Haus der katholischen Kirche, the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart and the Künstlerhaus Stuttgart.

In addition to her own artistic practice, she works as a research assistant at the ABK Stuttgart.
